Sponsorship
Sponsorship funds the hosting, development, and upkeep of Discover Grand Rapids. It never buys editorial influence, preferential listings, or any change to what this site says. Here is exactly what sponsorship is and is not.
The distinction that matters
Sponsorship, not advertising
Advertising is permanently prohibited on Discover Grand Rapids — no banner ads, no paid rankings, no sponsored content dressed up as editorial content. Sponsorship is different: it is a clearly labeled way for organizations to support this project financially in exchange for visible recognition, with no influence over the site's content, listings, or recommendations.
You can pay to be recognized as a sponsor. You cannot pay to influence what this website says. That line does not move, regardless of tier.
Tiers
How sponsorship works
Three tiers, each with a different level of recognition.
Platinum Sponsor
Limited to 2 organizations
- Logo on the site's load screen, shown on every visitor's first visit each session
- Logo in the site footer on every page
- Top billing on the Sponsors page, largest logo treatment
- Highest level of ongoing visibility on the site
Gold Sponsor
Premier recognition
- Considered a premier sponsor, listed on the Sponsors page directly after Platinum
- Featured placement and logo treatment on the Sponsors page
- No limit on the number of Gold Sponsors
Supporter
Recognition & thanks
- Listed by name on the Sponsors page
- A simple, genuine way to support the project
What will not change regardless of tier: sponsorship never affects search results, filtering, or how any listing appears elsewhere on the site.
What sponsorship does not include
What you cannot buy
Regardless of tier, sponsorship never includes:
- — Paid or preferential placement in Things to Do, Food & Drink, or any other listing
- — Influence over editorial content, descriptions, or recommendations
- — The ability to remove or suppress unfavorable or unrelated information
- — Undisclosed promotional placement of any kind
Accountability
Sponsorship integrity
Discover Grand Rapids reserves the right to terminate a sponsorship if a sponsor engages in conduct that materially conflicts with the values, standards, or integrity of this site. This may include unethical, deceptive, unlawful, discriminatory, exploitative, or otherwise harmful practices. A sponsorship may also be terminated if credible information becomes available indicating conduct that would make continued sponsorship inconsistent with the standards of this project. Sponsorship fees may be non-refundable in the event of termination for cause.
